Esparto High School Homecoming 2017-18 is in the books! Thank you to Mrs. Charter, our ASB Advisor, our ASB student leaders, our class advisors and all of the generous sponsors and parade participants that help make this event a success.

In September I had the privilege of attending a dinner with the American Legion Yolo Post 77 and the Women’s Auxiliary Club to honor our 2017 Boys and Girls State Citizens. These students are nominated by teachers and go through an interview process to be appointed this position. They then spend a week in the summer with hundreds of their peers from all over the state working together to form a mini-society, complete with elected officials, party platforms and laws. All three students report that is was an amazing experience and we are grateful to Ted and Silvia Hilyer from the American Legion; without their support these students would not have had this opportunity. Please see the picture in this issue.

October 27 is the end of the first quarter and all students will be receiving a report card in the mail. I encourage parents and guardians to review this report with your student and reach out to teachers with any questions.

After-school tutoring is available for all students Monday through Thursday, with two teachers available every day to work with students, or to provide a quiet place and a computer for the student to work independently. You can pick up a tutoring schedule in the main office.

On October 13 the FFA is fundraising with Cow Chip Bingo at our home football game against East Nicolaus. Tickets are on sale! We will recognize our senior class athletes at Football Senior night on October 27 and Volleyball Senior Night on October 24.

“Raise your chin, throw out your chest, Esparto High School ranks with the best!”
